UTM hoopster wins conferencewide award

Skyhawk junior Gerald Robinson (6-9, 230, Los Angeles, Calif.) was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for men’s basketball for his effort in the three-game Jim Thorpe Association Classic at the University of Cincinnati this past weekend.
Robinson averaged 16.7 points and 6.7 boards as the Skyhawks went 1-2 to open the 2006-07 season.
The center scored 23 points in the Skyhawks’ lose to Howard and netted 17 in the victory over High Point. He added 10 points in the loss to Cincinnati.
The weekly OVC awards are determined by the league’s sports information directors.
